I watched the first episode of RAUMPATROUILLE today, and I enjoyed it a lot! Quite well-written given the genre and time period, with some nice sarcastic humor. It takes itself just seriously enough, and seems to be more in line with STAR TREK than the campier LOST IN SPACE (according to Wikipedia, the first eposide aired nine days after the first episode of STAR TREK). As Nick and Malte mentioned, it looks like the production got a lot out of a limited budget. The special effects – charmingly called “Tricks” in the credits – are adequate and often quite inventive (again, given its age).

There wasn’t a lot of Peter Thomas’ music, but what’s there also mostly avoids campiness, with a mix of 60s pop stylings and futuristic-sounding instrumentation.

And then there’s the dancing, of course! 😀
