Impressive score, one of the top 10 of 2013 for me (it was featured in the very first top 10 of the year podcast episode that I did). Only 33 minutes, and Reyes’ original piano concerto, which plays a central, diegetic part in the thriller, takes up 90% of it. I know it’s one of Sigbjørn’s favourites too – one of the rare times he speaks about a score that isn’t LADY JANE and STAR WARS!
Hey, I don’t speak that much about Star Wars. Roy Budd’s Phantom of the Opera on the other hand… and I’m still looking for a physical copy of Grand Piano if anyone has a spare copy.
This is a shout-out to Sigbjørn, who alerted me to this a few years ago. I think it’s his favourite score, because he keeps mentioning it over and over again.
I wouldn’t say it’s my favourite score, but it’s among my many favourites and I think more soundtrack fans would appreciate it if made aware of it – it’s still kinda under the radar despite the excellent Tadlow/Quartet release.
