Neither of the two extreme statements “Every filmscore deserves to be presented and enjoyed in complete recorded form” and “There is no film music worth listening to on album that wasn’t on the original soundtrack album” makes sense.
Like Nick I think it’s good to have the choice.
But still I think, in 90% of the cases Thor is right. But for the remaining 10% I am grateful for the work of the speciality labels.
