I never understood the market for pop song albums from movies

There is a great lot of people who neither collect score albums nor pop albums. They only listen to songs on the radio or in movies. Often enough they don’t care for the artists but identify that song with the movie.
These people by these song samplers. I often bought those because one of my favorite Bands wrote a song especially for a movie and the song was only available on the soundtrack album.
