I don’t play the lottery either, except once in a blue moon (especially if I see the Eurojackpot is over a hundred million dollars). It’s money out the window, but at least I feel like I’m “in”.
No doubt I would give a lot to charity too, but first I have a number of more “selfish” endeavours.
