Big blow for Germany last night, losing 1-2 to Ecuador. But I suppose it doesn’t matter, you’re already through.

I suspect that was at least part of the equation. Germany was already through as Group winner no matter what, whereas Ecuador had to fight with all they had, only a win could save them from being thrown out. It was end game for them and “nothing” for Germany. Still, who’d have thought they’d put up such a hell of a fight. Ecuador’s win was deserved.
