This is actually less “work” than you think. Just pick a random composer, and look at his or her work in a given time frame. Then choose the highlight tracks – the self-contained mini compositions – that are not main or end titles.

For example, James Newton Howard. From WATERWORLD, one could choose three – “Escaping the Smokers”, “The Bubble” and “Swimming”. But if only one, then “Swimming”. Also, “Tarawa” from SNOW FALLING ON CEDARS, “The Egg Travels” from DINOSAUR, “The Crystal Chamber” from ATLANTIS, “The Hand of Fate (Part 1)” from SIGNS, “The Gravel Road” from SIGNS, “Love and Suffering” from A HIDDEN LIFE. Etc.
