This may be common knowledge, but I’ve found a version of Ritmica Ostinata for two pianos. Like any good piano reduction it gives new insights into the bone structure of the piece and makes demands of the player or players that don’t exist in the orchestral original.

My favourite piano reduction is the Shostakovich 4th symphony, arranged for two pianos by DDS himself and played on CD by Heyroudinoff and Stone, where it sustains the excellence from start to finish. The Ifukube glitters all the way through except the last couple of minutes, where the pianos can’t quite do justice to the brilliant crescendo.
