I don’t have a problem with space crews in general. It’s on a case-by-case basis. I remember being surprised by the “truckers-in-space” aspect of ALIEN the first time I saw it, because it was so unlike the previous types of space crew I’d seen. But of course, it adds to the homeliness and realness of it all, and thus more effective when the horror kicks in. Regular Joes caughts in irregular situations.
