OK, when I noted up there that I found that DUNE remained somewhat distant I was referring to emotional distance. I see a lot of big scale visuals and things happening in the DUNE movies, but while I enjoy the spectacle for what it is, in the end, it’s a big shrug of “ok, so what”?
Same here. I loved the first part of Dune 1 simply because of the vast scale of the worlds. I loved the hyper-stylized B&W scene in Dune 2 and I wish the whole trilogy would be like that. But as it is now, I end up feeling exactly the same as Nicolai P. Zwar. Maybe I’m too old for Star Wars like epics.
