I always love hearing about stuff like that, how we would make do back in the “analogue” days.

I never saw VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA, but I did see LOST IN SPACE and especially THE TIME TUNNEL when they were syndicated on Super Channel (or maybe it was Sky Channel) back in the mid 80s. This was way before I had any conscious relationship to film or tv music, so little did I know that a certain composer associated with them would be so important to me a few years later. Also fantastic themes, and pretty cool main title sequences. Lots of swirling effects in TTT.

As a kid, I was pretty forgiving of cheap-looking production design, but as someone weaned on state-of-the-art 80s FX, I’m impressed that the 60s stylings of LiS and TTT didn’t bother me. (Although DR. WHO was a bridge too far for me; I remember I tried that, but tuned out of it…great theme regardless!).
