
Really enjoyed this. Hard sci-fi with humour and a human (and rocky) heart, just the way I like it. And unlike Thor in his review, I think the flashback structure worked well. To me they added scope to the movie, helped put the spaceship sequences in context, and supplied some background to Gosling’s character that helped me connect to him.
Daniel Pemberton’s score was near perfect, too, heightening both the light-hearted, tense and emotional elements of it with his instantly recognizable style. But, just like Thor mentioned about the album, the score itself could also benefit from some trimming – it’s more or less omnipresent in the movie.
