Really enjoyed this (Project Hail Mary). Hard sci-fi with humour and a human (and rocky) heart, just the way I like it. And unlike Thor in his review, I think the flashback structure worked well. To me they added scope to the movie, helped put the spaceship sequences in context, and supplied some background to Gosling’s character that helped me connect to him.

I tried to watch that a couple of days ago but ultimately gave up towards the ending. I don’t quite understand for which audience this movie is made but I’m guessing it is for a young public with very little movie experience. I thought it was all rather childish and Disney-esque. And just like with The Martian, the big action scenes are boring. I’m saying that because, during the action in both Drew Goddard stories, my mind wandered off. As you can see, I’m puzzled by the overall positive appraisal that Project Hail Mary has received.
