I have this with all kinds of music, not just film scores. I listen to film scores less now than before, because I’ve flogged to death the best ones and there are not that many new ones that I want to dig into. It feels like there is a lull in scoring, as there was in the 90s. I like orchestral music, so I seek out little known “classical” composers — there are many unknowns. And there is a trail of (esp) British composers from the early 20th century who inspired modern film music (like Walton, Bax, Vaughan Williams, Malcomb Arnold’s works etc). I’m recently enjoying an Italian “Casella” who is little known, but wrote a small amount of great music interrupted by two world wars…

Usually, when I’m sick of everything, I reach for Deep Purple, “Made in Japan” – which is my palette cleaner! 🙂
