I have not seen it, so I cannot comment on the quality, but REBEL MOON started originally as a STAR WARS project and was pitched to Lucasfilm at one time, so the original idea was to have it play in the STAR WARS universe. So that may explain certain similarities, it wasn’t originally intended as a “rip off”, but it’s a STAR WARS movie that was finally made without any “STAR WARS” franchise backing.
Yes, I indeed know that. But thte outcome looks and feels like a “ripoff” nevertheless. And it all is so digitally processed that it is somehow no real fun. It was not totally bad and much darker-nastier than Star. I saw the first in the original version only and was never was motivated to watch the 2nd so far… There are also extended cuts…
