    I agree on Delerue, although he really only had ONE tunesmith strength — the bittersweet melody.

    Indeed, but what a strength!

    Goldsmith for sure wrote a lot of great themes and he could work with them. As Nic wrote music is more than just the melody. Also what one finds a great melody someone else might find boring and unmemorable.
