This is a bit like we touched upon in the Prejudice of the Melodic thread, i.e. the degree to which melody is the most important ingredient of music.

I think, though, that what Gerate has in mind is the ‘hummability’ of it all. While PLANET OF THE APES certainly has melody in it, you have to go searching for it a bit, as opposed to the in-the-face hummability of “Raider’s March”.
