For me the definition of good film music is quite simple: Film music is good, when it is strong enough to stand on its own two feet, when it manages to pull people into a concert hall to hear it performed live or when it can get played on the radio.

I know, this definition contains some very subjective parameters. But so does music in general, so it is on purpose.
