The Norwegian king, King Harald V, died this morning, 89 years old.

Whether you’re anti-monarchy or not, he was the “glue” of the Norwegian royal house, and a very well-liked, unifying figure for the Norwegian people. Especially lately, when there had been so many issues within their ranks. He’s been the king all of my adult life — from when I was a young teenager in 1991 until today. I was also fortunate to meet him once.

I find myself quite moved by this.
