I have 15 David Newman albums, and am familiar with maybe twice that, but I’m nowhere near Kev’s level of knowledge. Maybe if I were, I’d pick up certain recurring style traits. Same for Holdridge. Broughton, I count myself reasonably well-versed, and maybe – just maybe – I can pick up some things. Like a certain “dry” way of orchestrating (meaning very clear lines). But I’m really grasping at straws. Maybe some day, I’ll discover them.
