Yes, definitely a lot of “prototypes” in the two FANTASIA films. Also some very filmatic pieces that were composed well AFTER the film medium was born (like Stravinsky’s “Rite of Spring” and Respighi’s “The Pines of Rome”).

I do sometimes wonder what the earliest “prototypes” were. I’m guessing they’re dependent upon the existence of ballets and incidental music in operas. Stuff like that.
