I don’t think he wants to see or hear these again.
Just like many artists who “dismiss” their early work. The student film above at least had a nice pastiche-parody score. Maybe not earth shattering.
Same for COCAINE COWBOWYS which I think has not much Goldenthal music besides the nice groovy main theme.
BLANK GENERATION as COCAIN COWBOYS has many songs but some nice moody jazzy tracks and some more dissonant every now and then.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE is of course a rather low key TV score but a nice finger exercise and a suite would probably be nice.
GRAND ISLE I don’t know.
FOOL’S FIRE
Too bad that sounded much like the classic Goldenthal we know. (What a weird movie…)
Unreleased but very available. There are good-sounding bootlegs floating around.
I have BATMAN & ROBIN (even two bootlegs I realized). I think I have that BXS re-recording which even in parts does not sound like the actual score in the movie at all which is on Youtube.
ACROSS THE UNIVERSE (score)
Is there much score actually besides the song arrangements he was involved? Probably a rights issue if he interpolated melodies from the songs…
OUR SOULS AT NIGHT is of course a rather unspectacular low key score for basically solo acoustic guitar only.
Forest is here, but you’re not missing much.
Thanks, didn’t know that. Peeked into it and the mood reminds me a bit of his last symphony.
I think these could make a nice compilation album.
