Honestly, I am not a fan at all of fan edits. Even though from time to time I heard some nice fan made suites of scores on YouTube, I always found that kind of disrespectful against the original work and the composer. If I want to do something creative I rather write my own music, however lame or primitive that is. But it is my own and not a cannibalization of somebody elses work.

I know, this remix and adaptation thing is some kind of postmodern artform in itself. But I already wasn’t a fan of that when in the 90s these rap-adaptations of classic pop songs came up. Of course for every point there are exceptions.

But I don’t want to appear disrespectful to your hobby here. It’s just my personal view for myself and why I don’t do it. Of course such kind of deconstruction of a musical work can give you interesting insights into the structure and architecture of a musical piece. That’s the valuable part I see.
