Me and the missus are split on our trip to Tunisia.
We did a trip out into Matmata wilds and actually stayed a night in the Hotel Sidi Driss, which doubled as Luke’s homestead on Tatooine in the original STAR WARS film.
It only cost about 20 quid for the night for two of us, including a lovely homecooked meal (this was going back a good few years) but then it is, basically a hole and some connecting caves dug into the ground.
It was quite a memorable experience, to say the least.
Lots of the paintings and murals on the walls and ceilings from the film were still intact and there was a small annex with loads of pics and memorabilia from the SW shoot.
Carole still has Nam-like flashbacks about the whole experience (sleeping in a hollowed out cave with a door that didn’t fit and an open courtyard right outside)!!
I thought it was a blast and quite a big deal to this (once avid) STAR WARS fan.
