Finally had a film music-related dream again last night, that I can remember, anyway.

I was in some kind of small pub or café down by a harbour area, and I was sitting in a big booth or couch-type thing and chatting informally about this and that with Hans Zimmer. Either in Norwegian, German or English, I can’t remember. He was wearing a pink or purple outfit, much like he did in Ghent in 2013-ish (in real life). He had a constant entourage of people that sorta spun around the room, or occasionally asked him about stuff, but I felt our conversation moved carelessly. He was gearing up for a concert a bit later. The exact content of our conversation, I can’t remember, but I do remember the friendly atmosphere and the many non-film music-related issues we talked about.

At some point, we both go outside. I decide to bring up BEYOND RANGOON, my favourite score of his, without being all fanboyish about it. But then he suddenly says “no”, jumps into the water, grabs hold of some kind of pulling mechanism and dives under the pier — I’m told he has his sailboat/mobile home on the other side through an underwater passage.

At first I’m annoyed with myself, because maybe the rumours about him not liking BEYOND RANGOON are true, and I scared him away with my comment.

But fastforward a bit, and we’re back in the café chatting again. More people have entered, as this is apparently the room the VIPs enter to the concert. At some point, Barack Obama(!) enters the room (he’s going to the concert too), sits next to me and we chat a bit too, again informally. There I’m sitting next to Barack Obama and Hans Zimmer, and while I’m very careful with avoiding fanboy behaviour, I feel I have to document this with a selfie. But of course — as always happens in dreams when you want to take a photo of something fleeting — the camera function doesn’t come up. I have to scroll past some live feeds in Snapchat that just won’t close, and then it’s too late.

I think this dream is related to Zimmer coming to Oslo now on April 29th, and I’ve tried to get that ever-elusive interview with him, but haven’t succeeded in getting any response. So my synapses now compensate by creating this semi-comforting story, LOL!
