@Wesley That’s definitely a thematically sound way to reassble The Untouchables, especially since most of Morricone’s scores are all based around 2-3 themes that are repeated with some variations. He doesn’t go for the “through composed” style of a Williams, so it’s easier to collect a few presentations of each theme together.

@Nicolai Since so many scores as heard in their accompanying films are already edited, cut, copied and pasted around, such as in ALIENS, PREDATOR and DIE HARD, these aren’t really comparable to a concert work or pop/rock album. The composer might have composed “wild cues” to be used anywhere or not written any music for a specific sequence, which then has cues tracked in from elsewhere.

And also what scenes are scored is determined by the director and not the composer so there might be no music for 30 minutes yet the last cue and next cue are the same theme repeated, meaning that on chronological presentation on album you get the same theme repeated back-to-back. For me, I hate repetition! It’s simply acknowledging that film scores aren’t like any other genre of music and thus an album made from a film score can honestly be presented in any fashion.
