I’ve always felt more Delerue than Morricone, but yes – spectacular score, his masterpiece.

Yeah, indeed a bit of both in that final track.

Some more I like:

  • Joseba Beristain ELCANO MAGELLANES: Nothing “earth shattering” but a nice large orchestral with choir score for an animation
  • Frederico Jusid’s ISABELLA. Large orchestral with equally large choir, a little bombastic at times
  • Roque Banos ALATRISTE or EL CORAZON DE GUERRO: Orchestral historic scores if I remember right. Or THE MACHINIST I think was good, too, but more dissonant.

Alberto Iglesias should surely be named. Sadly I never really warmed up with him so I don’t have any favorite score.

Maybe you should do a Spanish composer special on the site later 😉 I am inspired to listen to some of these albums again the next days now.
