It’s the annual Christmas party (“Julebord” in Norwegian, literally translated as “Christmas table”) with my friends in a couple of hours – this time hosted at one of them rather than a restaurant. We’ll be having a form of lamb ribs that is common in Norway, called ‘pinnekjøtt’ (literally translated as ‘stick meat’) – more info here. Gearing up with a couple of beers, right now the draft beer from Nøgne Ø (Naked Island), the local brewery from my hometown in the south. Will be having some good red wine when I get to the party.

That’s a lot of Norwegian culture and tradition in one paragaph that none of you have heard of!
