We sometimes do/did kind of that with the tradition of “Julklapp” (we also call it “Wichteln” after – not sure of the English term, I don’t mean elves – the helping hands of Santa Clause) I believe is also known in Norway/Scandinvia in general. General rule picking by kind of lottery someone to secretly from a group who then gets a present without knowing from whom. Fun variant is “Schrottwichteln” (“Schrott” => “Junk”) with things as present you really want to part with 😉
