I found ALEXANDER a great failure in total, weird casting (Jolie as the mother of a son nearly her age?) and never like the score, primarily the snythy sound…

It’s a film with problems, no doubt. But in the latest cut (the Ultimate Cut?), the quality rises considerably for large portions of the film. It’s really the ultimate grand folly for Stone, and I always have a soft spot for those (same with Coppola’s MEGALOPOLIS and certainly Cimino’s brilliant HEAVEN’S GATE), where ambitions go nuts. I’m not a big fan of Vangelis’ big ANTHEM pieces in the film, but other bits are nice.
