Sync points were never a concern of Barry, as far as I remember he even actively decried them as Mickey-Mousing and generally didn’t compose to sync action. The problem in the music of The Black Hole is that the action scenes used music that was just totally unfitting.
The movie is no masterpiece, but it has its moments, especially the two Maximilians, Schell and the robot.

The music itself is terrific though, one of my all time favorite Barry scores, and my very first “Original Motion Picture Soundtrack” album.
