By and large, I accept the title tags the various tools grab, sometimes I batch edit titles to be more consistent. However, I do tag even the individual title tags with the correct recording year, which means if there is a soundtrack from 1976, which contains a source song from 1941, I tag that song with 1941. (Also with the correct performers/composers.)
Oh, indeed, performer and year I also tag on compilations but not genre. Here the album genre (and my lazyness ;-)) wins, e.g. all tracks on a song soundtrack compilation with just two score tracks will still all be “soundtrack”.
