4+ hours is too much for me. Three whole CDs for the original series also sounds like a lot. Would have loved a ‘best of’. But I’m sure it’s possible to whittle on one’s own. I’ll check out those albums on Spotify, if they’re there.

I love Kanno’s fullbodied orchestral score for the Taiga drama ONNA JOSHU NAOTORA (2017), which I’ve mentioned in the “What are you listening to?” thread. And of course her superb “Chorale” from MEMORIES, which I mentioned in the Women in film music webcast episode in 2013. But I realize that’s a very different Kanno from the type of music on display in this franchise. Versatile composer, for sure!
