While it is beyond embarrassing that the US elected this developmentally stunted sociopath for president not once but twice, I sincerely hope that people outside of the US understand that among modern, industrialized democratic republics, the United States has the WORST system of government of any of them. The US does not have a parliamentary system. It was designed to benefit wealthy landowners. It also gives small, poor, rural states outsized power compared to large, productive states like New York, California, and Massachusetts – a tyranny of the minority. It is nearly impossible to amend the US constitution, and given how polarized things are now, it is very likely that most people on this board will not see another amendment to the US constitution in their lifetimes.

It is also important to note that, for years and even decades, the US Republican party exploited loopholes and weaknesses in the US constitution to rig the board and allow the sociopath to be elected in the first place. The Senate refusing to allow President Obama to legally appoint a Supreme Court justice is just one example of many.

If the sociopath has done a single good thing, he has revealed how flawed the US system of government is, and if we somehow survive his scorched-earth impulses, maybe the US will finally revamp its constitution and step out of the 18th century and into the 21st. Until then, we can only hope that the Democrats will retake the House and the Senate in November. Of course, the Sociopath will probably declare martial law and cancel the elections.
