Not sure I would have selected this bunch of movie soundtracks as my top 10, but certainly things like:
Citizen Kane
Forbidden Planet
Psycho
Breakfast At Tiffany’s
2001
Star Wars
Star Trek: The Motion Picture
The Omen
Blade Runner
These are all great, worthy scores, and yes, I’d call all of them “seminal” soundtracks. I would not call 2001 – A Space Odyssey a groundbreaking film score though (not that I’m saying anyone here did), it’s obviously not a film score at all, it was a movie that just used classical pieces of music. Obviously, to great effect and iconic use, a milestone “soundtrack”, no doubt, but nevertheless not an original score.
