Reply To: Are there film score albums where you like just one track?

I can’t think of an example either. I’m more of an album person, not a track person. So if there exists a score album with only a single track I like, I would not buy it, and it would probably not register on my radar at all. Of course, I do not count cases where there is only a single score track on a songtrack filled with rubbish songs.

Hmmm…..well, I do remember sampling The Newton Brothers’ FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S 2 last year, and only liking the funky synthwave opening theme, while the rest was meandering suspense stuff. But that’s about the only thing I can think of right now.

Super rare stuff, this. I don’t expect a score album to be ALL highlights. There needs to be some less interesting cues that “bridge” the highlights. That’s the nature of the beast when it comes to soundtracks. So the program is the thing, really — a well-curated album can live long and prosper without a plethora of great, invidual tracks. But even scores I consider so-so have at least a handful of worthwhile cues, in one form or another.
