Apparently, there’s a new documentary coming out about Billy Goldenberg. See the trailer below.

My knowledge of Goldenberg mostly stems from the Spielberg connection. Even if you take away DUEL, you could still make a mini album of the Goldenberg/Spielberg collaboration that covers their TV work together.

But what are some other things worth exploring?

A surely familar name especially as well for DUEL and of course various COLUMBO scores way beyond Spielberg (I have an “unmentional” of that). Beseide that I have the scores GRASSHOPPER, RED SKY AT THE MORNING and THE DOMINO PRINCIPLE in my digital collection. been a while I listened to them so I cannot say much according to some internal labels I liked them 😉

Of course there is also his original KOJAK theme:

There is a cool cover version by Willie Bobo:

I also have these themes labeled as by him:

Theme to the short lived 1973 action series FIREHOUSE:

    Harry O first season theme:

    There are surely some more.

I never had the album for unknown reasons but I watched the 1989 version of AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAY mini series starring Pierce Brosnan and Peter Ustinov which is also still available digitalls. TThe main title is nice:

    Thanks for those suggestions, Malte.

Now that I think about it, I remember getting a CD-R of some Goldenberg music from, I think, vinylscrubber or Dana Wilcox on FSM. That one included THE DOMINO PRINCIPLE and a few other things. Shame I can’t find that one in my collection anymore. By the way, I’ve invited both Dana and Goldenberg connaiseur James Phillips to this forum; it remains to be seen if they tune in.

Incidentally, here’s the Goldenberg/Spielberg album that could have been made, if someone chose to:

    1. COLUMBO – Suite from “Murder by the Book” (1971)
    2. THE NAME OF THE GAME – Suite from “LA 2017” (1971)
    3. NIGHT GALLERY –Suite from “Eyes” (1969)
    4. Suite from DUEL (1971)

NIGHT GALLERY does not say anything to me but THE NAME OF A GAME has great Grusin theme.
