“Cheers!” is a thread over on FSM, inspired by the name of the iconic sitcom series, that was started in 2004 and meant to chart our enjoyment of beverages, as well as various weekend and life activities. It was also the place that originated the Zoom meeting series during the pandemic and beyond (19 editions were held….I still intend to host the 20th and final one as soon as I get on top of things).

But I feel like we needed one here as well.

Now it’s the holidays, what’s everyone drinking?

It’s sunny today, so I’ll soon be popping a beer on the balcony; a fairly straightforward Ringnes strong beer, perhaps followed by the Duvel 666 abbey beer, and some South African Goats Will Roam red wine later.

    I’m contemplating a bacon smoothie.

    Yuck!

Great on the balcony. Everyone walking by is taking a picture of the neighbour’s tree with white flowers. On to the red wine now.

    Looks lovely.

Beer so far. Nothing fancy, just ordinary Frydenlund Pilsner, which I like quite a lot. I’m far from a beer expert, but I recently heard that Frydenlund was voted the best of the Norwegian “industrial” beers, so maybe I’m actually on to something. 🙂
Switching to red wine tomorrow, probably.
Not that I’ll be consuming a lot of any of it – I’m at the cabin in Trysil with my sister and her family. 🙂

You’re one of the cabin people!

    In seriousness, sounds nice.

Nothing yet… but later on this special evening, it will be a Whisk(e)y… most likely be a piece of the Devil’s Cut Bourbon, as that is already open. 🙂

Today, it’s a beer… because it’s a tradition in our home (from my wife’s side) to start BBQ season, so we have guests (like my mother-in-law, neighbors, etc.), I get to grill and have beer. My wife baked fresh bread (in the background) and made salads… and I in between sneak into my office to do some “important” stuff, like posting here. 🙂
    That’s my Easter Weekend Saturday.

Looks very nice, almost like an ad. Is that a weissbier?

A bit hung over today, but repairing with some beers, and now – a little bit of an old fav of mine, the US red wine Fetzer (beautiful Zinfandel grape). It’s gone up in price, though, and they’ve exchanged the screw cork with a….well, cork cork.

[I screwed up, Graham…please reinstate your post]

Yes, it’s a Weißbier; I don’t think I ever had that particular one myself… I just bought a mixed crate of weißbier and picked that one.

Reinstate my post? I can’t remember what I said.

    #4581

I can’t remember either, but I intended to post an “Unfair!” comment to that bit about a bottle of wine costing 3 Euros in Spain, and then your post disappeared. Annoying, and I apologize.

Laidback evening tonight. Had a San Miguel gluten free beer (didn’t realize it was gluten free when I bought it, I want as much gluten as possible!), followed by a Hansa IPA Extra now. Summer hasn’t quite taken hold, it’s grey, but relatively mild.

    Cheers!

There is a big run passing by my window today, so I’ll be watching that (and praise the lord I’m not participating), then heading downtown for my cousin’s 30th birthday later.

Managed to have a booze-free Friday yesterday, so will remedy some of that today. A few Ringnes strong beers, nothing fancy. Maybe the draft beer from Nøgne Ø (a brewery from my hometown). No wine, I think.

Hey, are we going to have a Cheers “live chat” sometime soon? It’ll be like Andy Warhol’s TRASH, only with less action.

    #5226

Yup! It was originally intended for June this year, but the tinnitus issue came in the way. Now we’re looking at late August instead.

I’ve found that red wine (and only red wine) has a relaxing effect on my severe tinnitus, at least for a few hours. From half a bottle and beyond. So after a couple of beers now — a Ringnes special and a Chimay (on CAN, didn’t know they had that!) — I’m on to South African red wine. Twiga Hill, to be precise. It has the shiraz grape in it, which is powerful — good for my tinnitus, bad for my hiatal hernia. Needs to be balanced.

My hope is that I can listen to some music, and enjoy it, this Friday evening.

What’s your brew for the weekend?

I’m at a music quiz currently, it starts at 8. Just ordered a regular CB beer. Mild and tasty.

No victory today, as we missed the two most important members of the team.

    4th place of 23 teams.

Alright, it’s Friday…time to open up those taps!

Had a pretty productive day (finished an article, cleaned the apartment and myself), so ready to pop at 1.30 PM already. Some Norrland Pilsner (pictured), followed by a 1664 Lager now. On to some red or white wine later, I think.

    #5857

…and on to this, appropriately named “Friday”, but is actually a French wine based on Grenache, Syrah and Carignan.

Anyone planned anything for tonight or this weekend?

Had a classic Brooklyn East IPA, followed by Duvel’s devilish 6.66 Belgian Blonde. Just staying in alone and cooking. I prefer that over the big and boisterous parties these days.

    Cheers?

Meeting a couple of mates at six o’clock this evening at a pub. An hour or so later we are going to a live podcast/show at another place, about our local football team.

Tomorrow I am going to a match with said football team, before we eat at a local restaurant and then going to the cinema for seeing the new Springsteen film.

Sunday it’s dinner at my mother’s place.

So should be an enjoyable weekend.
