There are similar threads for 2024 and 2025, but we need one for 2026.

I thought it would be useful to start one relatively early in the year, like now, rather than just at the end, like those earlier two. Here’s a chance to highlight any new releases as you discover them, be it a new score or an archival release. If that’s something you do. I know that some don’t look for new releases at all.

Plus, it gives me the chance to “plug” those mini reviews of new releases I occasionally do. I have one out now, here, for anyone interested.

I actually love those compact mini reviews as I admit I sadly tend to scan really elborate longer ones (in generally not yours specifially) often…

It’s comparatively rare that I buy new releases these days… and even rarer that they are for a contemporary film. The last “new new” album I bought (as high-res download form Qobuz) was the recent Pat Metheny release, Side Eye III+, the last new film score CD I got was The Filmmation Music of Ray Ellis.

Same for me. I just got Murray Gold’s DOCTOR WHO – SERIES 10 2CD set which finally was released after 9 years but haven’t listened to it yet but know what to expect certainly. Gold is of course is a bit over the top at times but it’s all catchy and reminiscent of Arnold at times. But I always like it and I have all of Gold’s DOCTOR WHO scores so far.

The year is two Month old now and I haven’t bought any 2026 release.
But I think, I will get the new Rombi score. The more I listen to it, the more I like it. And from Music Box there is a CD release of it.

Then there is a rerelease of a 1979 rerecording of Bernard Herrmann’s North By Northwest coming soon. And I haven’t that score on physical album yet. Only the digital version of the McNeely rerecording.
