Malte MüllerKeymasterStill not fully understanding. This topic “Forum feedback” and “Welcome …” are pinned so always the first two. All others are listed by their latest repies and appear as intended to me. As of the time of my reply:
- The R.I.P. Thread – 15 minutes ago
- Film music books – 19 minutes ago
- Been to any good concerts lately? – 1 hour, 2 minutes ago
If you are loggedin you see the actual status. If not you might get a cached version that does not reflect the actual status until the cache updates. Which it does every 3600. That is counted since the last caching so individual for each page of the site. That cache is needed as the site respectively the server in general has some speed issues every now and then.

Graham WattParticipantAh! Now I understand. I “didn’t realise” that the Forum Feedback and the Welcome topics were pinned. But I’ll never forget that as long as I live.

Malte MüllerKeymasterGlad we could solve it finally 😉 The yellow background is meant to indicate the pinned status actually.

Malte MüllerKeymasterDoes anyone except me occasionally experience the site / forum to hang while being logged in? It is not always but recently I often had to wait 10-15 sec until a forum post or article on the site loads, sometimes especially styles or images are broken. Same on posting on the fourm, it sometimes takes very long or I have to even repost…

Malte MüllerKeymasterQuick update to the like button feature wished several time. I might have found a suitable plugin after I figured I don’t need something for bbpress itself since a forum post is just a post. Have to try it first though.

Jon AanensenParticipantIs it possible with less pages? Take this thread for instance, only 35 posts, but still 3 pages?
14. March 2026 at 17:38 #9080
Malte MüllerKeymasterThat is possible. It was set to 15 replies per page, I have raised it to 25 for now. The more per pages the slower it gets especially with lots of embed and there’s the danger of “scrolling to death” especially on mobile.

Malte MüllerKeymasterI have raised it to 25 for now.
Actually I set it to 30 per page.

Thor Joachim HagaKeymasterWhoa! A whole lotta threads got a whole lotta skinnier! “What are you listening to now?” down to a measly 19 pages. 😀

Jon AanensenParticipantActually I set it to 30 per page.
Thanks! I use mobile only and don’t mind some scrolling…

ParticipantIs it possible to quote a comment when viewing the forum from a Android smartphone? I can’t see any obvious way to do it.
16. March 2026 at 20:17 #9155
GerateWohlParticipantYes. You just have to copy/paste the Text and put it between B-QUOTE tags in the editor.
16. March 2026 at 20:17 #9156
Thor Joachim HagaKeymasterOne has to mark the text one wants to quote, press ‘copy’, then ‘paste’ into the new post, then mark the text again and press “B-QUOTE”.
It’s fairly easy on a laptop, but probably requires some dexterity on a phone. Here’s how to mark text on an Android, according to Google:
To mark (select) text on an Android phone, long-press (touch and hold) any word, then drag the blue cursors that appear to highlight the desired range. A menu will pop up allowing you to Copy, Share, or Select All, with app-specific options like highlighting in document editors or copying in browsers.
Basically the same as on an iPhone.

Thor Joachim HagaKeymasterThe hosting company had technical problems this evening. Sorry that the site was unavailable for a few hours. Hope it didn’t scare anyone away.

On my Android devices you can also double tip on text to trigger the selection tool.

ParticipantDoes anyone have any tips on how to attract more members?
Send out Amer. Great salesman; he got me here.
Also, before reading this, I used the B-QUOTE function improperly. I pushed the button, and the first part of the code popped into the reply (looks sort of like >blockquote<), then I pated in some text, then above, the B-QUOTE button had changed to look like this: /B-QUOTE
I pushed it, and it filled in the end code (looks sort of like >/blockquote<)!
What an astonishingly helpful way it works for those who don’t know how it actually works.24. March 2026 at 14:02 #9391
Malte MüllerKeymasterYeah, those tool bar buttons generates basic HTML formatting. We have to live with it as that is what this forum software offers.
But you can even write that manually without the buttons .
