ryanpaquetParticipantIn case folks missed Intrada’s recent Facebook live – details are here: https://www.filmscoremonthly.com/community/postid/2533931/
I listened to the recorded video this weekend during a walk to and from to get some groceries. Lots of technical issue discussion but things eventually got goin’:
First of all – listening to SAMPLES on the Intrada Website has been fixed.
Was nice to hear Jeff Johnson say that he loves his job because he knows what it’s like getting a package of something you’re excited about and looking forward too. Knowing that he’s packing CDs, and sending them out to folks who will enjoy and hopefully open and listen to them is a true joy of his. Anyone who has gotten a package from Intrada I’m sure has felt some of Jeff’s energy when opening their delivery, I know I have. Thanks Jeff.
Roger’s insights were also good to hear:
-Releases being down to 2 key factors: 1. Is the licenser go to license? and 2. Are elements available – he stated there were countless examples of excited licensees eager to release things but not happened because elements simply cannot be found.
-Peter Hackman made a suggestion to Roger about recording some short John Williams pieces such as Dear Basketball. Roger loved the idea and even though there might be space/a complimentary pairing for it on a future recording project that they have in mind. Roger also stated that John Williams was very particular about who records his stuff, but was confident the team they work with would likely be ok with JW.
-Commentary on the Disney bandwidth issue. They have a list of 50 priority titles that they are working/waiting on with Disney – The Bruce Boughton Master for the Theme Park Album is ready and even includes the new It’s a Small World piece he wrote. Things like the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles are also high on the list. Along with expanded Pirates of the Caribbean scores.
-Hans Zimmer has been very supportive with the releases that they have been putting out which has been very helpful.
-There’s a composer boxset coming in the future and not much details can be shared beyond that, but they are very excited about it.
-There’s a couple Richard Kaufman related projects already ‘in the can’.
-Some thoughts were shared on releases that took some time to get out the door.
-Some thoughts on releases not being possible if only one person has been requesting it over and over – this would not make sense financially. (I wasn’t in attendance, but I imagine Roger’s reaction to asking about Fluppy Dogs would be – ‘I don’t even know what that is.’)
If there is a future Live Discussion – it will be conducted using ZOOM!

Malte MüllerKeymasterThanks for the summary. Glad to hear things Intrada doesn’t slow down.
First of all – listening to SAMPLES on the Intrada Website has been fixed.
It was/is bit weird that they alwayss used .m3u mp3 playlist files no one else does. I never directly had an issue though as I jus downloaded the main playlist file and played it via VLC, the file then actually fake stream from Intrada.
There’s a composer boxset coming in the future and not much details can be shared beyond that, but they are very excited about it.
That sounds expensive, hopefully nothing I really want 😉

Thor Joachim HagaKeymasterYes, thanks for the summary, Ryan.
I would of course be thrilled if they recorded DEAR BASKETBALL or any of the many other unreleased Williams pieces.
And I’d gladly welcome more YOUNG INDY albums, although it was quite a feat to release four volumes in the 90s. That was unprecedented for a single TV show at that time. I own every single one of them, but could have more. Here’s my INDY collection, just for fun:

There is certainly some especially McNeely/Rosenthal missing. There one unofficial score by Curt Sobel I think. My collection is similar: Old expanded Raiders album plus the Indy box. Just don’t have the latest as CD.

Thor Joachim HagaKeymasterYes, I have a couple as files as well – “Transylvania 1918” by Sobel, “Trenches of Hell” and “Paris 1908” by Talgorn. But yes, could definitely need more volumes – both to release these commercially and whatever else there is.

ryanpaquetParticipantIt’s rare that labels do this – so I thought it was really great in the end – if there is another one I do hope to attend so I can rocket off a ton of questions from my wantlist. Mostly about animated TV scores held up by Disney.

Malte MüllerKeymasterYeah, those file I probably have, too. The series itself was a bit hit and miss for me even back then. The “historic person/event” of the week was sometimes a bit forced although the idea was not bad.
