Thor Joachim HagaKeymasterI’m off for Christmas holidays tomorrow, 4-5 days at my parents’ place in the south.
I just wanted to say this: A thousand thank yous to the handful of you (you know who you are!) who kept the board alive this year with regular participation. Also thank you to those who took the time to register, maybe even post once or twice. If you’re still lurking and reading this, I hope you find it in yourself to partake more in 2026.
What are your plans for the holidays?

Nick ZwarParticipantMerry Christmas to you, Thor!
My particular Christmas tradition is that I decorate the Christmas tree, usually at the last Sunday before Christmas Eve, or on Christmas Eve, and I usually pick a film soundtrack with a Christmassy feel for it to do so, which I play through. This year it was James Horner’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas, last year it was Home Alone, the year before that it was actually Michael Kamen’s Die Hard I think… and so on. 🙂
And I usually need as long as these albums take. 😀21. December 2025 at 19:45 #7162
Thor Joachim HagaKeymasterAnd I usually need as long as these albums take.
Which in your case shouldn’t be a problem, since you prefer C&C! 😉

GerateWohlParticipantStill unclear if we are going to have a christmas tree this year.
Listened yesterday to Rózsa’s King of Kings even though this might rather be something for easter. Anyway, Merry Christmas to you all!22. December 2025 at 19:24 #7176
Nils Jacob Holt HanssenParticipantMerry Christmas!
I listened to John Debney’s ELF at the home office this morning, for my final workday this year. I’d never listened to it before – it came up as a suggestion on Spotify. Quite nice, and certainly Christmas-y enough. I liked it! Also not very concentration-demanding. Not a problem to get some work done at the same time. 🙂
What I’ll listen to when I do the decorations later this evening is still to be decided. But I often end up with HOME ALONE 2.
I don’t have any specific Christmas movie traditions, except maybe STAR TREK GENERATIONS (!). Hey, it does have a Christmas scene! 😉
But maybe this year I’ll finally get around to watching IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE.I’ll be celebrating Christmas Eve (and Day) with my brother and wife, who live in the house that my brother and I grew up in. Lots of good Christmas memories from that house, and it’s always nice to be there.

Jon AanensenParticipantMerry Christmas!
Usual family celebrations here, and also some great relaxing days inbetween with music, reading, writing and movies. I’ll start on Stranger Things season 5 soon.

Nils Jacob Holt HanssenParticipantAnd of course, an important part of the Christmas preparations here in the Hanssen home is to get Johnny and Jerry ready for the celebrations.
They also send their yuletide greetings to you all!
Both have promised they’ll be hangin’ around here until well into the new year.

Malte MüllerKeymasterMerry Christmas. Celebrating Christmas’ Eve with friends. Otherwise hopefully some relaxed days.
https://www.instagram.com/_maltemueller/p/DSnIylDDAaC/I’ll start on Stranger Things season 5 soon.
Will probably after Christmas unless I wait until all episodes are online. Probably should rewatch at least the previous season to refresh memories……
But maybe this year I’ll finally get around to watching IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE.
Absoute classic Christmas over here!

SigbjørnParticipantMerry Christmas to all.
Still unclear if we are going to have a christmas tree this year.
We went to a local farm yesterday and got our tree there, do-it-yourself style. I’m happy about it but €70 poorer. 🙂

Thor Joachim HagaKeymasterReturned from what turned out to be a longer Christmas holiday than usual (almost a week), and now gearing up for New Year’s. Cleaned the apartment, cleaned myself, poured myself a beer. In the last few years, I’ve enjoyed spending New Year’s alone. I know what you think, but I don’t really consider that “sad” at all, I have plenty of other social events during and around Christmas time.
I’ve planned a great dinner – oven-roasted pork tenderloin (sprinkled with garlic, pepper, salt), with bretagne sauce, potatoes, asparagus and a sprinkle of champignons and onions on top. Plenty of beer, wine and a tiny bottle of champagne which I will pop when I ascend a nearby hilltop at midnight to watch the fireworks. Otherwise watching telly (the King’s televised speech at 7.30!), listening to music and tuning in online for the day.
Happy New Year’s to everyone! What are your plans?
1. January 2026 at 00:26 #7220
Thor Joachim HagaKeymasterNo plans for anyone, apparently (just kidding….none of you are obviously reading the messageboard on New Year’s Eve). Seen the fireworks, winding down now with a glass of cognac.

Nils Jacob Holt HanssenParticipantHappy New Year! As is the tradition, I celebrated at some friends’ house, just a 15 minute walk away. The hosts served a wonderful four-course meal, with roasted turkey as the main course. Slightly hung over today…

Malte MüllerKeymasterHappy New Year. Besides some fire cracking with my nephew late afternoon, I had a calm and unspectacular evening with a glass of red wine. If you exclude the sky exploding later 😉

Nick ZwarParticipantHappy new years… we went out eating with a few people end ended up at our house for drinks at midnight; we went to bed at around 3am.
