Today is the 100th birthday of Sir David Attenborough. Everyone should spend the day wallowing in George Fenton’s wonderful scores

      1. Blue Planet
      2. Planet Earth
      3. Frozen Planet
      4. Wild Isles
      5. Deep Blue (Berlin Phil)

And, fyi my own tribute to him: This Fragile Earth

Wow, wasn’t aware he is 100 alraedy. Awesome age and still active I think. (For some reason I always want to “join” him with his brother Richard…). Will listen to your track later with headphones.

Yes, what an absolute legend! Not only in the UK, but all around the world. I’ve grown up with him as THE international nature documentary superstar as well, as many of his programs have been shown on Norwegian TV.

And George Fenton is indeed THE benchmark when it comes to Attenborough scores, or nature documentaries in general. THE BLUE PLANET, FROZEN PLANET and PLANET EARTH being the favourites. I actually attended one of his BLUE PLANET concerts here in Oslo several years ago, and threw in an interview while I was at it.

But there are other good ones too, beyond Fenton. Irritatingly, I have no way of searching my collection for Attenborough titles, as they’re not stored under that name, of course. I don’t mean the Zimmer & co. scores, or Steven Price’s stuff, which are so-so. But I know I have others. What are some non-Fenton Attenborough score recommendations?

And btw, Mark, I DID listen to some of your stuff earlier, and even commented on it in the “Have you ever composed any music?” thread.

Damn! I mixed up David with Richard.
            Embarrassing!

I thought it was an intended joke. 😀

Thanks, Thor. I didn’t notice, but I replied after it now.

I was about to name “Jurassic Park” but gladly noticed in time 😂

Btw, another documentary composer I thought of is Barnaby Taylor (Wild China)

                    Wild China

I have Taylor’s WILD ARABIA, which is excellent! Thanks, I’ll check out that China one. But no Attenborough connection, though, AFAIK.
