Never seen GALAXY OF TERROR. I always had this weird aversion towards old B films, but I shouldn’t, really. There are gems out there, like PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES, another ALIEN template, which I sorta enjoyed.
SORCERER is great. In fact, most film adaptations of Georges Arnaud’s THE WAGES OF FEAR are. I’ve never warmed properly to the TD score on album, but it works wonders in the film. Do check out our TD thread, Tom, if interested.
Oh, I forgot to mention the most annoying thing about GALAXY OF TERROR: its score. Clunky, clichéd synth noodlings by Barry Schrader (unknown to me, and, according to IMDb, this was his only feature score). Some of the moody sequences were tolerable, but for the horror scenes the score was screeching, grating, and terrible.
Just came back from Sébastien Vaniček’s EVIL DEAD BURN, the sixth film in the franchise. Well, it certainly ticks off the splatter boxes. But it doesn’t have any of the devilish glee of the Sam Raimi films, of course (even though Raimi and Bruce Campbell are both credited as producers). It sits more evenly with the two reboot films by Alvarez (2013) and Cronin (2023). I understand what it’s trying to do – commenting on a dismantled family after a death, a splatter realization of the traumas involved. But that comes at the cost of the playfulness that this fictional universe has established across multiple films and TV shows.
It’s okay, but it’s more traditional splatter horror and less EVIL DEAD in tone, IMO.

I wonder sometimes what these producer credits mean. Does it mean, they just signed off, that they can produce this under the franchise label, did they just invest money or does it mean, the producers actually worked on the movie as consultant or supervisor?
