Mexico and UK TV are not showing adverts during the cynical hydration break$$$
But this does mean we hear more punditry from the “experts.”
I tend to use the hydration breaks as my own dehydration breaks aka toilet breaks.
22. June 2026 at 22:14 #12091Oh yes. I never listen to the talking heads stating the bleeding obvious, whenever there are breaks in the game.
I too go the toilet or grab more beer.
I usually mute the TV as well, cos just hearing them annoys me these days, even from the other room.23. June 2026 at 00:08 #12094France-Iraq match suspended due to weather. Haven’t seen that before, at least not in the World Cup.
23. June 2026 at 04:05 #12098Norway – Senegal 3-2.
Norway through to the round of 32!
24. June 2026 at 15:00 #12119England was shite yesterday. Hard to believe it’s the same team that provided great entertainment in the Croatia match. But I guess it’s to Ghana’s credit — they had some pretty wild defense.
No “sexy” matches this evening. Switzerland-Canada and Bosnia-Hercegovina-Qatar. I could watch Scotland-Brazil, but it starts at midnight, so a bit too late on a weekday.
25. June 2026 at 00:36 #12149I meant to say, I read that for Morocco’s first game in the World Cup, not one player was actually born in Morocco. I think it was a first.
26. June 2026 at 10:51 #12179Big blow for Germany last night, losing 1-2 to Ecuador. But I suppose it doesn’t matter, you’re already through.
Last group match for Norway tonight, a group final against the mighty France at 21:00. Which we will lose, but hopefully not by too much. Both teams are already through.
A friend of mine has invited some of us out on a boat trip in the Oslo fjord first, and then pizza & beer & football on the telly afterwards. Should be refreshing, even though I’m not in the best of forms these days.

I suspect that was at least part of the equation. Germany was already through as Group winner no matter what, whereas Ecuador had to fight with all they had, only a win could save them from being thrown out. It was end game for them and “nothing” for Germany. Still, who’d have thought they’d put up such a hell of a fight. Ecuador’s win was deserved.
26. June 2026 at 20:59 #12187Norway:France now
I’m out with a befriended couple, we had great pizza and beer…
Public viewing outside here in the restaurant… let the games begin.26. June 2026 at 22:03 #12188As expected, France is rolling over us.
26. June 2026 at 22:43 #12189Reason to root for Norway!
26. June 2026 at 22:49 #12190
Live view… from my seat.

Okay26. June 2026 at 23:29 #12192Looking forward to Norway vs Ivory Coast tuesday night with Haaland back.
26. June 2026 at 23:49 #12193An expected – and deserved – win for France. Although Norway wasn’t too bad during the second half.
28. June 2026 at 11:56 #12208After the entertaining first game against Croatia, England have been painful to watch. Labouring against limited opposition set out to frustrate them.
Only Kane or Bellingham offer any hope of breaking through and I can’t stand Bellingham and his attitude.
I can see them being sent packing by the first decent opposition they meet.29. June 2026 at 23:13 #12253Brazil beat Japan, but only barely. I was not impressed.
Germany struggling again, against a super defensive Paraguay. 0-1. But I root for Germany.
Of all the “big nations” so far, only France has impressed/been up to snuff.
29. June 2026 at 23:38 #12254Germany way too harmless so far. Paraguay a bit with Italian strategy: score and try to wait it out.
30. June 2026 at 02:16 #12255My new favorite team to root for this World Cup 2026 will be the Netherlands.
30. June 2026 at 07:58 #12256My new favorite team to root for this World Cup 2026 will be the Netherlands.
A shortlived root! 🙂
I only watched the first half of the Germany match, and then I “tried” to go to bed afterwards. Meaning I had trouble sleeping, as usual. As it happens, I fell asleep at 4 and woke up at 6 (two whole hours!), so I could just as well have stayed up and watched both the second half of the Germany match and the The Netherlands-Morocco match. Oh well.
Weird that Germany and The Netherlands are out, two big nations in football terms. But Germany was really below-par (except for one match), and I understand from reports that The Netherlands had enough defending itself against Morocco. I don’t mind surprises and underdogs doing well at the cost of big nations, but not too many. I need some consistency too, some of the favourites to go through. And I don’t like it when you’re “rewarded” for defensive gameplay against better, more entertaining and attacking teams (the Greece win in the Euros 2004 is such an example).
30. June 2026 at 09:42 #12257Germany was the better team against Paraguay, but if you don’t score, well you’re out. There just weren’t enough ideas and too many technical insecurities.
Was quite a penalty shoot-out though, sheesh. At least Germany was there, unlike Italy, which once again didn’t make it. That’s probably the biggest disappointment for such a great football nation.
30. June 2026 at 09:46 #12258I’ll be rooting for Norway later today. 😉
30. June 2026 at 11:39 #12259I doubt many Norwegians will be thanking you for that, Nic, with your recent track record!!! 😉
30. June 2026 at 13:19 #12260Any support is good, but I have a feeling that, tonight, two French-speaking countries will kick two Scandinavian countries’ ass.
30. June 2026 at 13:46 #12262I doubt many Norwegians will be thanking you for that, Nic, with your recent track record!!! 😉
So far, it’s shown to be the kiss of death, unfortunately. 😀

What, you think Norway will lose??
30. June 2026 at 17:12 #12268Yes.
30. June 2026 at 20:59 #12273Shame on you 😅
Brazil next.
30. June 2026 at 21:00 #12274Yes, good to be wrong on this.
30. June 2026 at 21:43 #12275Why did Haaland have a word on his back that wasn’t Erling?
