Here’s a link to a vote that Erik Woods, Robert Daniels and Jason Drury are involved with, asking people to choose three of their “greatest” soundtracks.
The results are to be announced during a 24-hour marathon Twitch stream (details in the link).
30. September 2026 klokken 17:36 #14543I voted already.
30. September 2026 klokken 17:41 #14545It will be interesting to hear the rundown. And to try and stay awake for as much of it as possible.
Rob Daniels did a 24-hour show relatively recently, raising funds for a local charity, and I managed to stick with it the whole time. It took me days to recover. And Rob only nodded off the once!
30. September 2026 klokken 18:08 #14546Will be interesting to see if the results differ from other similar polls that all end up with the same classics in the end.
30. September 2026 klokken 18:22 #14549Zzzzz
30. September 2026 klokken 19:45 #14553I have not yet voted as I cannot decide 😉 Besides that I don’t use Twitch. Who shall watch a 24 hour live stream?
Eric has a great voice and I always liked his podcast. But I admit I actually don’t really listen for it for years anymore since I don’t know when…
Zzzzz
Yeah, probably there will not that many electronic scores 😉
30. September 2026 klokken 19:58 #14554I haven’t voted either, because experience in similar votes (in IFMCA, for example) shows that everything mostly turns out as ‘least common multiple’ in the end. And so I feel like I’ve kinda “wasted” the votes on peculiar favourites. But as I said — will be interesting to see the results. Maybe this is one of those times the oddballs actually show up. Erik’s poll seems to have a lot of traction on different platforms, and people always like to mention their favourites. But personally, I prefer to read individual favourite lists.

Yes, people have no taste.
30. September 2026 klokken 20:49 #14559It’s been touted at FSM, so I imagine there will be loads of Jerry Goldsmith titles filling up the top places now.

I’ve just realised you’re First Breath from FSM.
I wonder what gave it away 🤣🤣30. September 2026 klokken 21:36 #14562Besides that I don’t use Twitch. Who shall watch a 24 hour live stream?
It is great to be able to dip in our out. But, if you don’t use Twitch then it won’t bother you missing the rundown.

Yes, and you are that crazy scouse, right?

Crazy? Maybe..
Likeable…Charming…Handsome? Definitely 😉😉😃1. October 2026 klokken 22:15 #14568Would be much more interesting if everyone voted their top 3 favourite soundtracks which are not on the top 100 greatest soundtracks of all time list.
2. October 2026 klokken 09:02 #14571The outcome will be rather expected I guess. Maybe “secret personal tips” would be an idea for another survey.
2. October 2026 klokken 09:48 #14573Would be much more interesting if everyone voted their top 3 favourite soundtracks which are not on the top 100 greatest soundtracks of all time list.
You mean not on the Classic FM list? That would have been a good idea.
2. October 2026 klokken 11:34 #14578But the Classic FM list does include most of the established, classic Film Scores that have stood the test of time and moved into ‘normal people’ territory.
Removing stuff like Star Wars/The Empire Strikes Back, Jaws, E.T, The Godfather, The Mission, TGTB&TU, various John Barry and Maurice Jarre classics etc seems a bit self-defeating.
All lists are just a bit of subjective fun anyway.2. October 2026 klokken 12:20 #14579But the Classic FM list does include most of the established, classic Film Scores that have stood the test of time and moved into ‘normal people’ territory.

By excluding those, you end up with some fresh and original choices. But yes, it would be kinda weird. You’d have to rephrase the poll from ‘greatest’ to ‘favourite’. I’ve always liked lists with an original or unusual slant (the ones that always rile people up!), rather than the same-old, same-old.
Erik says that hundreds of people have submitted their votes, so I’m guessing it will be a combination of those eternal classics and some that would be labeled “fan favourites”, you know those that aren’t necessarily mainstream favourites, but almost unanimously beloved by film score fans (like CONAN THE BARBARIAN). And yes — a loooooot of Goldsmith.
2. October 2026 klokken 15:39 #14599Some of this reminds me of this thread – “Own a classic score just because you have to?” – i.e. the dilemma that arises when, in a discussion of ‘greatest’ scores, you should be voting for a classic, but perhaps you’re not that keen on it, personally.
8. October 2026 klokken 17:09 #14858I’m not sure how to vote on this. I think “Best” could be most technical, skillful or culturally impactful, and “Favorite” could be most thematically or instrumentally memorable, and just scores we love because we love them…but what is “Greatest”? What category does that mean, haha?
8. October 2026 klokken 20:41 #14878I haven’t voted either, because experience in similar votes (in IFMCA, for example) shows that everything mostly turns out as ‘least common multiple’ in the end. And so I feel like I’ve kinda “wasted” the votes on peculiar favourites.
At least with 100 spots on the list relatively obscure titles voted for are likely to be featured.
I would imagine that only a few voters will have the film music history or musical knowledge to assess what a “great” score is in the grand scheme of things. For most it will be a popularity vote, and the final list may say more about the demographic of the voters and what their own personal likes/dislikes/experiences are rather than about what the greatest scores are.
8. October 2026 klokken 20:51 #14879That’s a good point. October 17th is not that far off.
9. October 2026 klokken 10:31 #14891I have not ye voted because I could not yet decide which three…
