ParticipantIn another ‘collaborative spam’ post, and after my recent contribution to the collections and listening habits topic, I thought that I would create a separate topic highlighting my blog, Reel Music, where i mostly provide weekly recommendations of albums to titles that has piqued my interest and wanted to highlight to people (don’t worry Thor I may resurrect the equivalent topic at MainTitles).
The link is in the blog name in the previous paragraph.
I will try and post reminders when I post a new blog post for anyone who’s interested.

Thor Joachim HagaKeymasterI like to think that I sample and discover lots of new and under-the-radar scores every year (the best of which I’ll post about in the Favourite releases of 2026? thread), but you always manage to dig up some I haven’t, Alan. Most impressive! You must have some mysterious sources. Same with Joep’s titles in his thread, really.

ParticipantNothing too secretive!
What I tend to do is check Amazon, Bandcamp and a few ‘new release’ sites daily for new releases. And I keep an eye on select review sites – such as your one, Jon Broxton, Joep on MainTitles – for under-the-radar titles when they come out. And then monthly it’s places like soundtrack.net (or whatever it’s called now). There’s also that video game database for new Asian releases.
I don’t specifically go for obscure titles, just for things I like. It tends not to be the more mainstream titles that are being released that I enjoy.

Thor Joachim HagaKeymasterI think Bandcamp is the one where you have one over on me. I’ve used it extensively to explore my beloved synthwave genre, but less so for soundtracks as such. Something to remedy.

Malte MüllerKeymasterI get a newsletter by bandcamp with recommendation based on things I bought. Sadly very mixed but a few score in there, too.

ParticipantA new film and TV music blog post – Weekly Recommendations – w/e 23rd January 2026: KAYA-CHAN ISN’T SCARY (Kohta Yamamoto & Shun Narita), DIE DREI??? TOTENINSEL (David Reichelt), & THE INDISPENSABLE ARMOR (Noah Dennis)
29. March 2026 at 16:20 #9569
Malte MüllerKeymasterInteresting that you discovered a German score like DIE DREI??? TOTENINSEL 😉 The audio plays have a huge following in my generation still for 40+ years. The movie attempts didn’t fully convince me but the score to a precedessor was quite okay and unexpectedly orchestral even. Two earlier ones by Annette Focks were also not bad.

Thor Joachim HagaKeymasterI did sample that question mark thingie awhile back. Didn’t quite ignite me the way it did Alan, but now I’m curious about the earlier Focks works. She almost always delivers.

Aren’t Die drei??? – Erbe des Drachen (2023) and Die drei??? und der Karpatenhund (2025) the earlier movies? Because David Reichelt did those too.
29. March 2026 at 19:14 #9584
Malte MüllerKeymasterOf that series yes. But there are also two older movie attemps with other actors already:

I would recommend his 8 DAYS (8 TAGE). Some of the vocals on that are so powerful.
