Thought I might check this place out (also FSM). I found JWfan a deceptively toxic environment, and they don’t talk nearly enough about music; something I would really like to get back to focusing on.
18. September 2025 at 18:43 #5679Cheers, Schilke!
1. November 2025 at 17:55 #6185Hello, all! I registered some time ago, but haven’t had a chance to check in to visit. Looking forward to discussing film music again as well as Thor’s famous “meta” topics!
1. November 2025 at 18:25 #6186Great to see the legendary Jim Phelps on here!
1. November 2025 at 22:40 #6197Of course. Cue The Usual Suspects.
4. November 2025 at 03:16 #6232I must say I enjoyed meeting the challenge of registering while receiving instructions in Norwegian. I may not speak it but got the idea of what to type with not too much difficulty. Same thing happened, in a way, when I visited the Soviet Union back in ’85. Of course, the stakes were just a wee bit higher in that place. Yeesh.
4. November 2025 at 11:40 #6236enjoyed meeting the challenge of registering while receiving instructions in Norwegian.
Norwegian is the default language for Thor 😉 Visit your user profile and change the default language to English. Then all system texts should be English.
4. November 2025 at 16:12 #6239Oh I’m kind of hard up for excitement these days and think I’ll stick to the Norwegian Code. Thanks anyway!
4. November 2025 at 17:44 #6241Hm, didn’t realize that was all in Norwegian. Everything that has to do with the forum and the registration process should ideally be default English. Maybe that’s what’s keeping some people from completing the registration process?

Since the forum is just a part of the site we can only set everything to English by default. But actually the register form also has a language selector at the bottom.
Maybe that’s what’s keeping some people from completing the registration process?
Very maybe 😉
4. November 2025 at 19:06 #6243The thing I miss the most in this forum is the possibility to react directly to a post by like button.
But I got used to it.5. November 2025 at 10:07 #6249I did search for such a plugin to the forum plugin but it was not that nicely fitting in. Maybe I give it another go sometime. I see that it could be nice instead of just replying with something like “I agree” or “I also like that score”.
Sadly we are a bit dependent on ready-made third party solutions for things. Other than FMS we are a “no budget forum” 😉

16. November 2025 at 20:29 #6594Welcome! Is that a Superman suit under Thor’s jacket?
16. November 2025 at 20:37 #6595Ha, ha…what an introduction post! Good times, TG! Hope you stick around for a while. There have been too many people who have come on to say hello and then disappeared off the face of the earth forever.
16. November 2025 at 22:36 #6599Thanks, Sigbjørn. Thor kept his jacket on at all times, so who knows…
Thor, I’ll try not to disappoint.
6. March 2026 at 00:39 #8775Hey everyone,
Just wanted to say hi and let you know I’ve joined the board. I’ve been looking for an excuse to travel to Norway, and a virtual trip is really light on the wallet. I can already imagine the taste on my tongue of a craft Norwegian beer while marvelling at the Northern Lights.
Looking forward to catching up on the existing threads and sharing some thoughts on music and other fun stuff.
6. March 2026 at 09:38 #8781Welcome, Ryan – one of my favourite peeps from FSM. Hope you stick around for a bit! 🙂
15. March 2026 at 14:37 #9099Hello! Good to see a familiar faces again and happy to also see new faces! I’m not good at message boards but I’ll pop in now and again for a virtual coffee! 🙂
15. March 2026 at 15:14 #9101Messageboards beat silly social media any day of the week! 🙂
Welcome, Tim!
24. March 2026 at 13:25 #9378Hello, all. My name is David, infrequent contributor at FSM since 1998, and I cohost and put together a show called The Goldsmith Odyssey.
And I like this phrasing:
my favorites composers are likely:
“Likely” is a helpful word for lists which can shift over times and moods.
24. March 2026 at 14:03 #9392Very glad to see you here, David. Welcome! Yes, this board is very simple and old-school (especially the whole quoting ordeal), but once you get the hang of it, it works okay.
Glad to see Amer mention it; I wish he posted here more frequently too.
24. March 2026 at 14:26 #9393Very glad to see you here, David. Welcome!
I thank you! It seems like a cheery, smart place. Do you moderate? If so, I can already see the benefits.
Yes, this board is very simple and old-school (especially the whole quoting ordeal), but once you get the hang of it, it works okay.
It seems fine to me. New-school can have needlessly complex methods to do should-be-simple things.
Glad to see Amer mention it; I wish he posted here more frequently too.
Well, it’s clear to me that he reads, because he talked about how much he liked it here, the feel, “Like the best times at FSM.” He described it as an oasis, without using that word, so maybe he’s just being a wallflower for the moment, soaking in the nice atmosphere, but he’s definitely around.
24. March 2026 at 15:20 #9400I do moderate, yes (very, very loosely). But those are good words from Amer (who is himself one of the pioneers of film score fan communities). So he gets free pass as wallflower in this case! The goal is indeed to be a bit like FSM or Maintitles were in the old days; we just need a little more activity.
28. March 2026 at 16:12 #9546Greetings from San Diego, California!
My name is Josh and I am a film score addict. I love all eras and types of film music, from the Golden Age to contemporary, conventional to exotic, orchestral to synth, and everything in between. I guess you can say I’m a glutton for sonic punishment; it’s all music to my ears!
I’m especially partial to rhythm and groove, so if I had to choose, my favorite decade of film music would be the ’70s: Euro trash, Blaxploitation, Italian giallo and horror, Carlos/Carpenter/Tangerine Dream, etc., followed closely by the ’80s, the “wonder years” of my youth (Silvestri, Broughton, Goldsmith, Williams, David Newman, Horner, etc.).
Thanks to Thor for the invitation to join this board. Looking forward to making some new friends.
Salud!
Josh
28. March 2026 at 16:17 #9548Welcome, Josh! Hope you stick around for a while (and long live euro trash!).
28. March 2026 at 16:31 #9550Welcome! Cool, another groove aficionado! 😉
8. May 2026 at 22:55 #10820Thanks for the invite, Thor! Long-time member of JWFAN and FSM, and happy to see some familiar faces/user names here.
Looking forward to joining in on the conversations.
8. May 2026 at 23:09 #10822Welcome, thx!

If you all had the option to change usernames, I wouldn’t have to say this twice.
