More personally affecting over here is our first small “heat wave” this summer.
It’s coming here too, but probably won’t pass 30C (28C is the highest next week, according to weather reports). Thank God I live up here in the north. Time to ressurect the ‘heat’ thread, I suppose.
I am glady I alson live rather north but on the next weekend reports say we may even reach 40 degrees. It’s mostly the hihh humidity we most always have as well.
Ah, yeah, I forgot we had such a thread. Thanks to climate change we might need it in the future regulary 😉
There’s supposed to be a solar eclipse right about now. Alas, I don’t have any glasses to use, so I’ll just have to witness the darkness around me, if there is any. Right now, it’s just normal hazy. Anyone watching it properly?
Yeah, I didn’t really notice it at all. But in the evening the sun is basically behind builidings here already anyway…
I was really sorry to hear about AfD’s massive win in Germany a few weeks ago. And Germany, of all countries.
But I’m mentally preparing for the extreme right-wing wave to hit Norway and other European countries. I’ll have to try and navigate a new reality somehow.
But it pisses me off.

There is a reason the right-wing parties are doing good. May have something to do with the current sorry state of Europe, mass-immigration and all.
The issue isn’t mass-immigration. In times where societies in Europe are getting older and older this is even an opportunity. The issue is that the current generation of politicians in all parties, especially conservatives and right wing are in this for the career opportunity and not because they have a plan for the future.
And trust in the whole system is eroding. And if there is not trust in the future and no strategy for the future people follow those who say, they just distribute what’s left, fight for remaining resources. Kind of a Mad Max scenario. And more or less that’s what the right-wing extremists promise. They close the borders and distribute what’s left.
And that’s madness.
But people are stupid.
Big part of the problem.Indeed, as Gerate said the immigration is just a red herring argument and we actually need immigration due to the getting older people. It is much more complicated than that. But simple answers for complicated problems always worked for some… And that our current chancellor is, well, not a general “fan favorite” surely also plays into it…

Yes, but just barely. The extreme right wing party Sverigedemokratarna is still scary popular.
Great choice by the Nobel comittee, giving this year’s Nobel Peace Prize to Navi Pillay, who headed the UN commision confirming Israeli genocide in Gaza. I was not aware of her, personally, but a great cause. And a wonderful thorn in the side to the Tangerine Twat. Funny that Fox News doesn’t have the news anywhere on their site, not even hidden away under “World”.
