NøkkelmesterJo Ann Kane Music Service sounds like a dream visit for musicians like yourself (with or without the Williams connection)!
That sweater moment is funny. I had a similar moment in 2014. Sitting close to the stage, giving him a thumbs up rather than applause at the end of the concert, which he saw and gave me a thumbs up back. That’s the closest interaction I will ever have. Like you, I waited outside the entrance before the concert, but it was total mayhem, and I have no interest in being a part of that fanboy insanity. But I did snap this funny picture from a distance, which you’ve probably seen on Facebook:

NøkkelmesterYeah, with Goblin I like quite a few individual themes, but outside SUSPIRIA, I’ve rarely grabbed on to the scores as a whole.
Daft Punk’s TRON: LEGACY definitely needs to be on the list, although I have all their studio albums as well, so it’s certainly not alone in my collection.

NøkkelmesterYup, welcome, James! Hope you chime in in a few threads….we’ve had some new members recently that have popped in, but then disappeared off the face of the earth (Bregt, Graham Watt, Richard, Fanny….).

NøkkelmesterFirst of all, pretty wild to see Isham, Jones and Poledouris on your list, GerateWohl — great composers with a variety of scores on their resume.
This question can be answered in a number of ways — there are composers where I only have one score, because I’m not familiar with the rest of their work. Or I AM familiar with their work, but have only landed on one to own. Or they’ve just done one, or close to one. Etc.
So taking ALL of that into consideration, I would need to list literally HUNDREDS of “one-off” titles in my collection. But I’m going to limit myself to famous or semi-famous composers with pretty extensive catalogues (in film music and/or non-film music), and choose 10 from them. So maybe something like:
Air – THE VIRGIN SUICIDES
Carter Burwell – ROB ROY (well, plus the WSA compilation)
Goblin – SUSPIRIA (plus a compilation)
Jerome Moross – THE BIG COUNTRY
Michael Land – THE DIG
Paul van Dyk – ZURDO
Sergei Prokofiev – ALEXANDER NEVSKY
Simon Franglen – AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER
Toto – DUNE
Tom Tykwer & co. – PERFUME: THE STORY OF A MURDERERThor Joachim Haga
NøkkelmesterThat’s great, Mark (and welcome to the board!)! So Brossé stepped in back then as well, just as he did in 2018 when some of us had the same experience in London. Huh.
I would have loved to see Williams when he did a couple of concerts in London in the 90s, but I didn’t travel alone at that point. Thankfully, I’ve been able to see him live three times since then (Hollywood Bowl 2012, Boston 2014 and Berlin 2021). But I’ve never met him. That will haunt me until the day I die.

NøkkelmesterAs Sigbjørn says, I don’t like them. Not really concerts, more like fancy moviegoing experiences.
But I’ve seen a few whether I like them or not, as they’ve been part of a festival programme. PERFUME: THE STORY OF A MURDERER, KON-TIKI and GLADIATOR come to mind.

NøkkelmesterCool topic! Let me think a bit about that.

NøkkelmesterNice lists! I can understand the frustration in boiling it down to 10. I’ve made a “thought construct” for myself, that I think about every night before I go to sleep (I need something to divert my brain from the tinnitus), and it’s a construct that is able to encompass my relationship to all film composers who ever lived, and sorta rank them. I can talk about that later, if it sounds interesting at all.

NøkkelmesterThere is a big run passing by my window today, so I’ll be watching that (and praise the lord I’m not participating), then heading downtown for my cousin’s 30th birthday later.
Managed to have a booze-free Friday yesterday, so will remedy some of that today. A few Ringnes strong beers, nothing fancy. Maybe the draft beer from Nøgne Ø (a brewery from my hometown). No wine, I think.

NøkkelmesterI’m stumped too. Maybe Malte knows? Incidentally, you’re not the only one whose posts are filtered into “pending”, for whatever reason, but it seems to happen to you the most. Irritating.

NøkkelmesterQuite eclectic, but mostly an elegant film noir score with brooding melodicism. Definitely a highlight of 2011.

NøkkelmesterI forgot one, the OLSENBANDEN box that was released a few years ago:

NøkkelmesterLooking forward to sampling it (despite, sadly, my tinnitus worsening over the last week, hopefully not for forever).

NøkkelmesterSigbjørn always hates it when I post something from that box, but truth be told, it makes up a healthy portion of my entire collection of classical music on physical format. It was a gift from my dad, and has 29 discs with all kinds of stuff — often unusual versions of famous pieces, and some quite obscure:

NøkkelmesterOf course, this is an “old favorite topic”. And that question gets often asked like it’s a clean question.
True, but since this is a ‘fresh’ board, I think some of the classic evergreen topics are worthwhile to re-explore.
Interesting list, btw. THE CAR was an unusual choice, but I know you dig Rosenman. I don’t think I’ve ever heard it.
